Beat back pain - Find your way to ease the strain by Dr Ruth Chambers
Read this book over the week, since it was most suitable to my situation currently. Good book with lots of ideas to overcome back ache and the science behind back ache (?). It did not explain the cause of my back ache though :| Nonetheless it made me feel better to know that I'm not the lone warrior. In fact after reading the book I felt that my pain was nothing compared to what some people have. I was panicking for no reasons.
Each Idea in the book is a chapter, though I wont go through each of them, here's a gist of what 'I' got out of the otherwise boring (obvious) book :)
1) You're not alone, there are hell lot of people out there suffering from Spinal problems.
2) There are a number of reasons for a back ache (from weak bones to nasty accidents).
3) There are a number of solutions to get rid of it (from Traction to Acupuncture).
4) But the best solution is to stay active and EXERCISE!
5) Start doing Pilates.
6) Watch your posture all the time. Always stand straight.
7) Watch when you lift stuff from the floor. Watch the weight of the stuff & also how you lift it. Always try to bend your knees and lift the object closer to your body.
8) Don't over exert your spine, get help when needed.
9) Take mild Pain killers if necessary, but EXERCISE!! Unless it hurts when you do.
10) Do exercises to strengthen your Pelvic floor muscles.
11) Get into some hobby and keep yourself busy.
12) Visualize about your health being perfect.
13) Have positive self talk about your pain. (obviously think that it should reduce or just vanish)
14) Lastly, EXERCISE! EXERCISE!! & EXERCISE!!!
